I am directly related to the WILLIAM BARTON showing on the 1834 Yalobusha County, MS Tax Roll. However, I have been unable to discover anything on him prior to that time. I have pretty complete history after this date, but have been stumped for over 15 years.

I have a record of my Great grandfather, John Pryor (I believe) married to a Margaret Barton when he was in Natchez, Miss. The clerk from Yalobusha county sent me a copy of the record on the 2nd of July 1850. Trying to find my Grandfathers birth as he was born in Natchez.

The name of your first known ancestor: William Barton
Jesse Barton, b. 1820 TN, m. 1842 to Sarah A. Williamson in Yalobusha Co., MS and d. 1863 in Civil War. Residence at that time was Jacksonport, Jackson Co., AR. Named his children Hannah, Joshua L., David, and Margaret Elizabeth. I think his father was William Barton, b. 1792 in Franklin Co., VA and died 1855 in Water Valley, Yalobusha Co., MS, but cannot find proof. I would appreciate your help. Dean Morton
I am looking for info on Pheobe Barton who married Joseph Nations, born 1755. I am a descendant of Joseph W. Nations their son according to information I have, but looking for more proof. I also need info on a Barton Family Cemetery in Yalobusha Co. MS. I found a listing for a David Barton buried there. I think this may be the burial site for Joseph and Pheobe and Joseph W. and his wife Lucretia Brown Nations. Other ancestors buried in Calhoun Co.
