ISAAC & NANCY (SNOW) BARTON FAMILY
Isaac Barton (b. 1799; SC/d. 1865; TX) md. Nancy Snow 11-27-1819 by Jonathan York, J.P. in Blount Co., AL. By the 1830 census, they resided in Jefferson Co., AL. [According to Dottie Lewis, a descendant, Isaac was a wheelmaster and a Baptist preacher.] The 1840 census lists them in Yalobusha Co., MS. The 1850 census of Yalobusha enumerates Isaac's family as #927. The 1860 Census of Trinity Co., TX lists and Isaack Barton. [According to Dottie Lewis, Isaac and family settled near Apple Springs, Trinity Co., TX. Some of Isaac's descendants also moved to Sabine Parish, LA. All the Barton sons enlisted in the Confederate Army except Avery Jackson who stayed home to see after the women. In 1870 Jeremiah & Mary Ann and Tempy and her husband, William, resided in Henderson Co., TX. Samuel G. remained in Trinity Co. William Green and his family had moved near Many, Sabine Parish, LA in 1868.]

You have Isaac Barton, b. 1799 SC, d. 1865 TX who married Nancy Snow in 1819 as one of the Barton Patriarchs. This man, as family legend goes, was a good friend of Moses Hughes in Jefferson Co., AL (neighbors there 1830). Isaac left AL and went to Yalobusha Co., MS. Moses followed some time later and settled in Calhoun Co, MS (which was cut out of Yalobusha Co). One of Isaac's sons, William Green Barton, married one of Moses Hughes daughters, Rhoda, and moved to Trinity Co., TX (co-incidently, where I was born). Moses Hughes is my Gr-Gr-Grandfather. I am curious to know Isaac's ancestry because it appears that he could be very closely related to these other Bartons that married into the Burgess Mullens/Mullins family in Walker Co., AL. (Maybe Isaac and Moses Barton were brothers?)

one of which was Samuel Green Barton. He married Maggie Mills and parented
my grandfather, Frank Mills Barton. I want to go back as far as possible.

Thomas Green's parents were Isaac Franklin Barton and Georgia Ann McBride. Isaac Franklin was the son of William Green Barton and Rhoda Isabell Hughes. William Green was the son of Isaac Barton who md. Nancy Snow in Alabama
