Samuel Barton who was born in 1749 in probably Pennsylvania or Virginia, married Martha Robertson in Botetourt County, Virginia, March 10, 1778, was a signatory of the Cumberland Compact on May 13. 1780 at Fort Nashborough (which was then in the State of North Carolina but is now Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee) who later removed to and died in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1810.
According to descendant, Jan, Isaac M. Barton was b.1817, Nashville, [Davidson Co.?] TN d. 1892, Runnels Co., TX; md. (1) Mary C. Brown ca 1841 in Fayette Co., AL. After death of first wife he married (2) Mary Elizabeth Davis on 1873 in Falls Co., TX. She d. 1935 in O'Donnell, Lynn Co., TX.
