BARTON of TUGALOO RIVER, PICKENS CO., SC:

CALEB BARTON (parentage unk), farmer-soldier-justice, was b X 1775, X, and d testate 2 Feb. 1835, Pickens Dist., SC. He m 10 May 1799, Pendleton Dist., SC (by the Rev. John Cleveland, Baptist minister), SARAH HARRIS (parentage unk), who was b X 1783, X, and d X 1857, X.

Caleb was War of 1812 captain of militia in SC, and J.P. in Franklin Co., GA.

David Barton who md. Ruth Oldham was one of the patriarchs of the Pendleton District Bartons.  His descendants spread from Franklin Co., GA to AL, MS, LA, OK, TX and beyond.
